Thank you very much Marius Hance.

Why is the word "helps" in plural not correct?

Why is the word "apprecitative" not correct?
0
"Help" (like "advice") is singular.

If I am appreciative, I am the one who appreciates what you have done to help me. After you help me, I am appreciative. The thing that gives the help is not appreciative.

Thank you GG,

Do you mean the word "help" uncountable?

You could say that in my version it was seen as uncountable.

Help doesn't take an "s" as a noun, and it takes a singular verb.

You could say - although it's not common - is that something makes me appreciative. But most things to make you appreciative.

It would be like this:

John was very appreciative that Susan volunteered to watch his children Saturday night.

Yes, some THING could not be appreciative - only a person. I guess it depends on how many emotions you assign to your pets, but I'd say it's only human.

If you say someone is appreciative, either the context or your sentence will make it clear. If you just said "Mary is appreciative" - your listener might wonder "for what?"
