Helping the woman to cross the road

can I say,

(1) On the way to school, Peter saw an old woman walking near / beside / at / on the road. He felt pity for her and went to the woman. / and went to help the woman.


(2) After Peter finished his practice, he saw an old woman was by /on / at the roadside.There were many cars (on the road). The woman went to Peter and asked him for help. Peter was willing to help her crossing the road.


(3)When Peter was walking (over the road), he saw an old woman trying to cross the road.
When Peter was walking, he saw an old woman standing at the roadside.

(4) While / When Peter was going to school, he saw an old woman by the roadside. He walked to the old woman and tried to help her.

(5) On his way, Peter saw an old woman when he was walking (to school). The woman was at the roadside. She wanted to cross the road. So Peter held the woman and crossed the road.

(6) After practising, Peter went back home.While he was walking along the road, he saw an old woman standing by the roadside.
