Helped me getting?

Hello, I have a question.

My sentence reads: "He also helped me get both the rent and the car-payment money."

Would it be correct writing "He also helped me getting both the..." and why? Is there a difference if so?

Top answer

No. The forms are ' help + infinitive' and occasionally ' help in + -ing form'. The latter is usually awkward.
