Abstract:

Customer orientation drive to “reward” fidelity, but we stay in most cases, in the system of gift, bonuses and reductions. The use of the shelf space as tool of targeting and reward is in general not much linked to speeches on fidelity or the practices of loyalty.

Our research consists in finding equilibrium between « product orientation », traditional, and «customer orientation», made possible by marketing databases. The object of this research consists in formulating a decision of local adaptation of the shelf space by being based on the study of the heterogeneity of structures of products interrelationship purchased by segments "better customers".

Study is driven with the aid of disintegrated data coming from the panel ERIM of A.C. Nielsen.
