Help with the past perfect // before my boyish voice had broken
People, help me with the past perfect tense used in this sentence:
"I do not think it is arrogant of me to claim that I had already discovered these four objections before my boyish voice had broken."
I wonder why after the conjunction "before" another past perfect was used. would anyone please explain?
