Help with tefl i-to-i online course- module 6 assignment?

Hello everyone,

I've heard lots of people ask about the module 6 of the old course, but with the new course the modules are different...and I need some help please!

The module is about teaching pronunciation, and having done the module quiz I moved on to the assignment...here is question 1:

"Imagine you are teaching the phonemes /l/ and /r/. Your aim is to help your students distinguish between the two sounds and pronounce them as accurately as possible. Remind yourself of the stages of teaching sounds you covered in the learning module and describe step by step how you would teach these sounds. Remember to give details of a communicative activity at the end. Write about 200 words. You need to give examples of words with the 2 sounds that you are teaching. Please remind yourself of the stages of teaching sounds you covered in the learning module and describe step by step how you would teach these sounds".

And question 2:

"Here are the rules of pronunciation for the past simple/past participle ending of regular verbs 'ed':

  • if the 'ed' ending follows a voiced consonant, such as /v/ or /m/ or /g/, or a vowel, it is pronounced /d/
  • if the 'ed' ending follows an unvoiced consonant, such as /f/ or / / or /k/, it is pronounced /t/
  • if the 'ed' ending follows /d/ or /t/, it is pronounced /Id/

  • Please describe step by step how you would teach these rules to a class of elementary learners who are being taught the past simple regular forms. Remember to include examples, i.e. a complete list (lists) of words you will present to your students."

Please can somebody help me with how to go about this? I am stuck!!

    Thanks,

    Vicky

Just keep in mind that they monitor this website so if someone does post an answer and you use it you will fail because you plagiarised it. Send in an email to i-to-i and ask for help. Or better yet, read the module and you'll be able to figure it out.

Hey,

I know i-to-i has a TEFL community thing which has course tutors on there, so you might want to try posting a message on there if you're still looking for answers: http://www.tefl-chalkboard.com/

Good luck!

This is certainly the hardest mudule yet. Mostly becasue this question assumes you don't already have a lesson plan provided for you, and asks you to create the lesson from scratch. I found this webite very helpful:
