Help with sentence

A friend told me that he is going out with some friends later in the day.

Is it correct to respond by: where are you at?

Also, do I have any grammatical errors in anything I wrote above? Please correct any of my errors.

Thanks!

It should be "where are you?" or maybe "where are you now?" if you're asking where he is at the moment. It seems an odd response to "I'm going out with some friends later." If you want to know where they are going later, it would be "Where are you going?" or "Where are you going to go?"

Sorry for not being clear. He told me that he is going out with friends later in the day. So that is why I want to know where he is Right now. So it is wrong to use 'at' at the end of my question, as the teacher above mentioned!

Also, is it correct to say: later in the day.

Thanks!

You might hear some people say "Where are you at?" but most grammar experts would say it's not correct. "At" is not necessary; it adds nothing to "Where are you?" In the situation you describe, if you think "where are you" somehow sounds too abrupt, use "Where are you now?"

"Later in the day" is fine. You could also say "later today."
