They've got a long way to go

Nowadays "good" English requires "way." If you say "ways," some people will think you are not "educated" or that you are trying to speak like "ordinary people." Same situation with "anyways" instead of the "correct" ANYWAY. But "nowadayS" and "alwayS" ARE "good" English -- at least for now.
