Help with sentence

Which is correct?

My brother is as conservative as me.

or

My brother is as conservative as I.

as I is usually considered the most formally correct, but as me is probably used more often and is also considered correct by many grammarians. CJ

...........as I am....."My brother" is the subject in a sentence in which the verb is "is." The end of the sentence "as....I(am)."
