Help with proper way to write this

Ok, I'm trying to find the proper way of wirting the below sentence in an essay I'm working on.

Here it is:

Without women, reproduction would be either a.) impossible or b.) not as exciting.

Please don't take the above sentence out of context. I have a paper due on why I think women play an important role in our life.

It usually comes in from Microsoft Word. We have a magic box which automatically cleans it out.

BUT - if you type anything at all into the dialog box (before pasting), the magic box gets cancelled out.

If you're familiar with this, forgive me.

The very first thing you must do is to paste your text.
You'll immediately see the magic box appear. You have to do the Ctrl-V thing TWICE.
Then you can add whatever you like before or after the text.

No, this is no survey.  It is a sentence from an essay on why women are so important to man

As a line in a survey, for instance, the formatting is OK, but if this is a sentence in an essay, then it will need to be rewritten to such as this:

Without women, reproduction would be either less exciting or impossible.
