Help with pronouns

Hi,

I am trying to learn about the structure of a sentence and currently, I am working with associating the pronouns with their respective antecedents. I am currently facing some issue with it and would like some help with it.
Let me illustrate my problem with an example,
"Dave and I went to a movie. It was good, but he did not like it."
Let's break down the sentence. Dave becomes the subject, went is the verb and movie is the direct object of the first sentence.

Now in the second sentence, It, as we can tell is associated with the object, which is, movie. But it becomes the subject of the second sentence which is my main issue with associating it with the correct pronoun.

Any rules associated with pronouns would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
