I think that your choices for 1 and 3 are correct. 2: I also believe that 'for' is better. We register 'for' a class, or we enroll 'in' it. Keep in mind that prepositions are very confusing, and there is often no explanation other than usage. One of the joys of studying English, I guess.

Also, My son is a third grader in Toronto.He got a swimming program report from his instructor. The report shows 'Please register in Ultra 2' for the next program.

Why are they using 'in' instead of 'for'?

I seldom mean to be exclusively didactic when I make statements about grammar (especially with prepositions!). I can only speak from my 142 + years of speaking English. There may also be variances around the English-speaking world.

I'm always glad to help, but like most "teachers" on these boards, I do not want to be considered an ultimate authority.

Like Philip, I would also prefer 'for' in your second sentence. I think in this case 'in' might be seen as a less commonly used alternative. It's possible that 'in' is more often used this way in your particular area.

The original question was referring to registration for an activity.
