Help with my vocabulary improvement

Hello all
Recently i bought "Oxford"s advanced learner"s dictionary".I would like to improve my vocabulary by daily using this dictionary.I need help on the following questions:
1.)Can i learn 50 new words daily or is this too much for a single day. Then how much should i learn in a day.
2.)What are the various ways i can improve my vocabulary.
3.)Should i choose the words i want to learn directly from the dictionary or is it better to select a word from a magazine article.
4.)How can i use these words in real life situations.
5.)What are the words that are important---Is it those words like "introvert" "Extrovert" "Gregarious" or common words like "eat"
"pick" "leave"(Not only the words, but also the idioms and phrases that are related to that word.)

Lastly, what is the minimum required vocabulary i need, to be good in both spoken and written English.

Thank you.

50/day is very tough.

Start reading English-language newspapers. Many have free online editions.

Write down the words in some notebook and repeat them the 2nd day.
As many as you can. There's no number we an give you.
But learn them in the context.

Directly/straight from the dictionary it's tough, not quite productive.
