Essay & Composition Writing

Help with my essay please.

For this English presentation we were asked to start off with a short story , which is based on an article in the Alquin. The article which interested me the most was ''You can't believe your eyes'' written by Denise Winterman for BBC Magazine. This article explains how fallible the human memory is , and therefore also the inaccuracy of the eyewitnesses being used in the court or for police investigations It is being proven many times , that there is a high change that eyewitnesses give faulty information , whether they do it on purpose or not. The human memory is simply not capable to store everything that they see and later recall it correctly. Everytime you try to remember something, there is a change that you mix up things , so the longer you wait , the more you forget. There are several examples of eyewitnesses giving false information in the past , after DNA research was introduced , a lot of identifications made by eyewitnesses in the past have been proven wrong. People can even see things while they dont even occur. As example we can take the case of Jean Charles de Menzes , he has been shot by the police after eyewitnesses have stated he was carrying a bomb. But it was later shown on the Cameras that he was completely innocent. Next to this case there have been several other crimes in the past where eyewitnesses were completely wrong in describing details or identifying people. In my opinion these facts are another reason to abolish the Death Penalty everywhere in the World , because wrong identifications made by eyewitnesses can never be taken back after people being executed.
