Please help me correct, all ideas and critics are more than welcome
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to you regarding the MSc in Finance degree at your university. I hereby wish to express my interest and motivation for this course as well as my choice for your University.
I am currently finishing my 3rd year in economics at the “Université Louis Pasteur” in Strasbourg and I am considering to pursue my academic career by completing a masters degree in finance.
After giving a long thought to the path I should choose, when finishing my degree, I realized that what had attracted me from the very beginning to economics were the contemporary economics issues combined with numerical subjects. This mixture helped me gain the theoretical knowledge to understand some of the world’s biggest economic issues.
A two month internship at “Volkswagen” in Belgrade (Serbia and Montenegro) gave me an insight of daily tasks to accomplish (stock calculations, sale plans, import strategies, client relations…), goals to achieve in such an environment, the importance of team work, the stress related to achieving good results every day…
Another internship at “Swietelsky” (Austrian Construction Company) helped me realize the importance of finance in every day’s work in any company. While working on several projects (tenders for road and rail construction in Serbia) I was acquainted with methods of calculation (contracts that require important financing), client relations, and translation of official documents.
All of the above gave me even more inspiration, desire and determination to learn and progress in the finance sector.
I also realized that my language skills were a big plus during my internships. Having spent three years in Austria and having obtained the Cambridge Advanced Certificate, my knowledge in German, French and English allowed me to participate at various meetings with people from all around the world, discussing topics of all sort.
Being pragmatic by nature, I wish to expand this theoretical understanding to some more practical grounds. Confident that this course will give me enough skills to enter the complex world of finance, I am motivated to work hard in completing this degree.
I hope you will consider me for acceptance to your university. I am looking forward to hearing from you.
