Help with information for an exercise

Hi teachers,
Could you tell me a shorter form to explain the blue part?
The exercise is a multiple choice exercise, but I also want to inform the students about the verb in its present form.

Baxter jumped out of the car even before Halls stopped it.
Word class: verb. Tense: Simple Past (R). Simple Present: jump.
a. went
b. moved slowly
c. moved suddenly and quickly

Thanks in advance.
