The diagram reveals the proportion of revenue from three different film genres (Romance, Comedies and Action/Horror) for a Hollywood film studio in the period between 1970 and 2000. Overall, revenue from Romance film types experienced a dramatic drop, while income from Action/Horror films increased significantly throughout the period of time.

As the chart shows, there was a slight decrease in the proportion of revenue from Romance films from 50% to 40% in 1980, and then plummeted to 15% in 1990. Until 2000, the proportion of revenue from Romance film was accounted for the smallest percentage of income among 3 film types, stood at around 10%. In contrast, percentage of income from Action/Horror movies increased gradually from 10% to 20% between 1970 and 1990, until it nearly doubled to about 40% in 2000, and became the highest grossing film genre.
