002. Each component of the essay must be fully developed. This means that your introduction must be a well-developed paragraph, not a sentence.02br
02br
003. Your thesis statement must express your topic and opinion and be the last sentence of your introductory paragraph. Please double-check each thesis statement to ensure that it meets the requirement of the rhetorical mode you are using. Since you are struggling with essay organization, I want you to use the three-point thesis statement and five paragraph essay models for your writing.02br

00I believe an effective leader is one who has followers that respect and admire them!02br
02br
02br
02br
00I was at work when this new “boss” came in and introduced herself, as Lieutenant Colonel (LTC) Rita Mayer.00 00I quickly introduced myself and explained my duties and responsibilities in the position in which I was assigned.00 00As I explained myself her attention seemed to fade away to some distant land.00 00I immediately became frustrated, and ended my introduction as quick as possible.00 02br
02br
02br
02br
00I decided to relax and take a deep breath so that I would not look totally annoyed by her rude behavior!00 00This LTC was to be our new leader, and already succeeded in pissing me off!00 02br
02br
02br
02br
00As the days went on she constantly demanded things of me that were not my responsibility. 00 00I in turn smiled and politely directed her to individuals that were in charge of the information she was requesting.00 00I repeatedly asked myself how I was to follow this person who had absolutely no respect for those appointed under her.00 02br
02br
02br
02br
00I finally came to a conclusion and mustered up the courage to talk to her about my concerns.00 00As I approached her, she looked obviously stressed with the workload, and I immediately detoured.00 00I returned to my desk and wrote a note asking if I could speak with her privately at time and date of her convenience and placed it on her desk.02br
02br
02br
02br
00Moments later she approached my desk and asked to speak with me in her office.00 00I sat down and told her exactly how I felt about the situation.00 00I explained that in order for her to have my full support she was going to have to respect me on the same level as she would respect her superiors.00 02br
02br
00As I explained to her, she seemed to be very surprised by my bravery for approaching her on this issue.00 00She apologized for her behavior and actually made a complete turn around within the whole office! 02br
02br
02br
02br
00I was so moved by her ability to quickly fix the problem, that I not only admired her more but gave her my complete respect!00 00I would even follow her into battle!02br

01b00Characteristics of an Effective Leader Based on Personal Experience 02b02br
02br
01b00(Argument Mode)02b02br
02br
02br
02br
00People tend to label leaders as anyone in a leadership position; however an effective leader is someone who actually has followers and knows what it takes to be in that position!02br
02br
02br
02br
00Some people tend to think that someone designated as a leader is automatically granted the title.00 00However, many factors come in to play such as people skills, wisdom, knowledge and many others. 00 00As they say you can lead a horse to water but you cannot make him drink, the same applies to people.00 02br
02br
00Anyone can be put in a leadership position but what makes them a leader is how they impact the people around them that makes them follow!00 00A leader must have certain characteristics that shine above others that differentiate them from followers.00 02br
02br
02br
02br
00The words that they speak, and the words spoken about them can either make or break them.00 00A leader must acknowledge the hard work that people do and praise them for their work, and have no favorites.00 00Leaders value their people, and challenge them to improve and take on new tasks!00 02br
02br
02br
02br
00Leaders accomplish the mission not by themselves, because effective leaders know that it takes a team of likeminded individuals with the same goal.00 00Leaders bring the whole group to a level of success, with communication and mutual respect for everyone that has played their role!02br
02br
00Effective leaders know that it takes everyone to accomplish the task at hand and does not take credit for everything but evenly distributes the recognition.00 02br
02br
02br
02br
00Can effective leadership be taught?00 00Yes, but how a person applies the information to their position is the real test.00 00Knowledge and actually applying it are two different things, and that comes to play as a vital part of leadership.00 00People may have all the qualifications in the world, but that does not make them great or even respected!00 02br
02br
02br
02br
00The title “leader” is not just given it is earned with hard work!00 00Anyone can be a leader at any point in their life, whether it is as a child or as an adult!00 00No one can be an effective leader without the help of others!02br

02br
02br
00As the author of00 “Characteristics of an Effective Leader Based on Personal Experience”, 02br
02br
00which is two essays on the same topic but in different rhetorical modes (narrative/argument) the similarities are obvious!02br
02br
02br
02br
00When you read the narrative essay you can see that it is written as a personal experience, and explained solely from my point of view.00 00The narrative essay is written like a story, and is easy to follow.00 00Having been the victim of a potentially negative situation due to leadership, I was able to adapt to the narrative writing with ease.00 02br
02br
02br
02br
00As for the argument essay it is written with a common confusion among people, but based once again on my own personal experience and view.00 00However, this mode is written as my own opinion and people will absorb and pass on different assumptions about effective leadership vs. the title “leader”.02br
02br
02br
02br
00You cannot compare two items which are identical. To better understand the structure of these two rhetorical modes, perhaps the best way is to discuss the similarities between the two.00 02br
02br
02br
02br
00As you can see the narrative and argument mode both have the idea that without followers there is no leader.00 00Effectiveness is determined by the followers and how they are treated and valued.00 00In both essays, specific details, and examples are needed to validate the opinion expressed.00 00They both tend to restate the idea at the end rather than simply come to an abrupt stop.02br
02br
02br
02br
00Writing in different rhetorical modes can be very confusing and easy to start meshing them together.00 00To make sure that the essays were successful, I ensured that the sequence of thoughts were easily understood so that the reader could understand.02br
02br
02br
02br
00So in conclusion having written both of these essays on the same subject it is almost impossible to not derive the same viewpoints unless you contradict yourself.00 00Therefore, the similarities between these two essays are seen clearly.00 02br
