Help with choosing the right words

I'm practicing for the Duolingo English test and came across this particular exercise. I managed to fill in all the blanks, but frankly, I'm not too sure if "see" and "start" (in the very first line) are the right words. (They actually don't sound right to me.) Does anyone know what may be more appropriate choices of words here?

I'd write "I set great store in..."
