Help with article

Hi. Please help Which is correct? If both are correct, what is the difference?

1. It could represent the acceptance of values of democracy.
2. It could represent the acceptance of the values of democracy.

Also, if we want to make a general statement regarding what the writer of the sentence sees as a typical quality of a good man or a typical behavior of a good man (if the form of a wise saying), should he use the definite article "the" before the phrase "good man" or the indefinite article "a" before the same phrase? I am sorry for not providing you with a complete sentence.

Hi. Thank you. As for your sentence below, can we lay out the argument that the phrase "the good man" could mean the species (kind?) of "good man"? And could we use the phrase "the good man" instread of or in addition to the one you used, "A good man"? I think we can use the word "man" to refer to humankind.
