Help with a sentence please

I don't understand the meaning of "leaping" at the end of following sentence.

Suddenly he falls into a Capitol accent as he mimics Effie Trinket, the maniacally upbeat woman who arrives once a year to read out the names at the leaping.

What would "leaping" mean?

Thank you so much for helping me:)

I very much doubt there is a mistake in a book. It says Leaping and not Reaping.

You can't possibly be serious.
Typographical errors occur all the time, and they are frequently missed by even the most seasoned copy editors.
