Help with a sentence, please.

I am a native speaker of English and still get confused on the usage of commas from time to time....

Please tell me which is correct (if any) and why?

1) After taking my girlfriend, Rachel, out to dinner, I decided to go for a drive.

2) After taking my girlfriend, Rachel out to dinner, I decided to take a drive.

3) After taking my girlfriend Rachel out to dinner, I decided to take a drive.

Your help is much appreciated.

Hi Eric, 1 is correct if you have one girlfriend and the reader understands it is Rachel. 3 is correct if you have multiplie girlfriends and now the reader understands that it is Rachel you are referring to. 2 is just plain wrong.
