Help with a sentence

Hi all,

Can somebody please comments the English?

The studies noted that the X was a problem both in developed and developing countries, and the condition was poorer in developing countries.

If you want it to sound more professional, I would write : The studies noted that the X was a problem both in developed and developing countries, however, the condition was poorer in the developing countries.

And that has a punctuation problem and a distributional problem. I suspect also that 'conditions' is meant, since problem and condition are not synonymous (if I am mistaken, the 'poorer' is a wrong word choice):
