Help with a sentence

0 Sorry to pester you again but I need your help. I've heard this sentence: "That off-the beaten track village is not the Malone's road", well, I'm not sure if they said 'Malone' or something like that (there's background noise) Does it ring a bell? If so, what's the meaning of the sentence? 02br

0 Hi Dido, it would be helpful if I knew the context of this sentence, but I'll give it my best shot. 02br 02br 00"off-the beaten track" - This looks like a variation of the expression 'off the beaten path'. First of all, a 'beaten path' is a way, road, or passage that has been used by many people.

00"off the beaten track" is more common in BrE than "off the beaten path". Is this Irish, by any chance? 0-

0 Thanks for your help. Would the meaning change if the sentence were: Paris is not the Malone Road???? 0-

0 Malone's Road, as Jim said, sounds as though it belongs to someone named malone, or is the road to his house. 02br

01b00The02b00 Malone Road would be road leading to a 01b00place02b00 called Malone. 02br
02br
00It seems to me the latter is more likely. 0-

0 Wild guess: 'the Le Mans road'? 02br
