Help - Why is this sentence grammatically wrong?

Hi,

I need to correct the following sentence: "I'd like some informations about your courses" I know the correct version is "I'd like some information (not informations).." but how do I explain why it is incorrect? Is it because the word "information" is being used as an uncountable noun? Help please!

The same way you explain why 'sugars' or 'sands' in incorrect in

It's too bitter. I need to put more sugars on it.
To make concrete you need sands.

As you say, it's a countability issue.
