I'm not sure that I would want to teach it to a pre-intermediate class.

But if I did, I would focus on situations where there is clearly A PLAN,
eg
Tom chose a recipe.
He walked to the store and bought al

I'd focus on situations where there us present evidence of a future situation.

There are dark clouds in the sky. It's going to rain.
