How would you teach the form ‘(be) going to + infinitive’ used for future plans to a pre-intermediate class?

Outline your lesson plan using the following headings as a guideline.

Warmer / Lead in
Presentation (in a suitable context) and drilling
Controlled practice activity
Production (a personalised communicative activity)

Briefly say what you would do for each stage of the lesson (in bullet point). Each of the four stages above may contain more than one activity.

Remember to include examples of the sentences you will present and your students will practise. The sentences should follow this pattern: Subject + 'am/ is /are going to + verb' and they should express future plans.

Also include concept questions you would use to check understanding. (Min 200 words).
Answer:
Warmer/lead
Talk about “what to do on you next holiday”? Create short simple drill activities to warm up. Give or create new vocabulary words about holidays. Use hand gestures; or facial expression to help the student understand the vocabulary. Use also visual marks on the board or even flashcards to help them come up with words related on where can you go on holiday or what can you do? You can also include adjectives describing holiday or activities. Such as:
Where: china; France; Bali or Africa
What to do; canoeing; beach; hiking; riding bike; swimming etc
Adjective: beautiful; warm; hot; sunny
Presenting/drill
While introducing your lesson with new vocabulary words use adjectives that would be good examples to complete sentences about holidays. Use flash cards to drill vocabulary and have student complete simple activities to practice.
Now introduce “to be” Show the student how to make sentences such as,
• She will be going to Bali.
• They will be going to a swimming contest in Africa.
• We will be going to France.
Let the student make sentences choosing a subject, verb, and adjective from the column you create about holiday. Use question to see if the student understands the grammar. Continue practicing with them. You can also create scenarios of them on holiday.
Since students are pre intermediate; check for false friends; mother tongue interferences; slip of tongues; overgeneralizations’ or trying to use higher level language. This can be common for student trying to advance to level quickly.
Controlled
Then use a worksheet for practice. Have the students complete the exercises to ensure which form of verbs could agree with certain subjects. Check answer to make sure student understands.
Teacher: Will you be going to France?
Student: Yes
Teacher: Are you going to learn French?
Student: Yes
Try to keep it simple. Try to repeat and emphasize on the structure sentences
Way to practice use brainstorming ideas with student by playing games. Word games, group games, tongue twisters.
Production
I would group the students in pairs and have them role play. Planning their next holiday and have them list what they are going to do on holiday. Then each group can share with the entire class their plans. I would help with pronunciation, clarification or any misunderstanding with the context of the exercise.
Or have role-playing or short dialogues in front of the class using be going to + verb. You may let them work in pairs or in group. Even fill in the blank exercises.

The assignment is: ' be going to' + verb for future plan , but this is what you have presented: what to do on you next holiday introduce “to be” She will be going to Bali. They will be going to a swimming contest in Africa.
