Help to understand the sentence, please

I don't understand the sentence "Jailing McCrea for eight years and ordering that he be subject to an extra two years on licence, Judge Patrick Lynch QC said he was satisfied that McCrea did pose a significant threat to public safety."

The Judge is glad that he sentenced to eight years in prison and ...

Please,help me with the bold part of the sentence.
