help to rephrase a sentence

I lost my wallot because I was watching my child play. (1)

I want to say that I was watching my child play, I didn't want him to be outside the vision I could reach because I was afraid that he would be kidnapped. All my attention was on him and I didn't know my wallot got lost. (2)I don't know how to build a sentence containing the meaning in (2) Could you please rephrase (1) so the new sentence has the meaning explained in (2) and correct the explanation? I feel awakeward to explain this way. Thank you a lot.

I don't think you are going to be able to tell that whole story all in one sentence!
Here's a short version.

I was watching my child so intently that I completely lost track of my wallet.

To fit everything into one sentence I might say,

I lost my wallet because I was so afraid my child might be kidnapped that I was watching him instead of the wallet.

Afraid that my child might be kidnapped if I didn’t watch him intently, I completely lost track of my wallet which was stolen (lost) without my knowledge.
