Help to fill in the blank

The meeting ____ between A and B on 6/22.
handled, happened... what's the proper verb should be used here?

How about... "The meeting took place/was held between A and B on 6/22" I guess both are right but maybe there's a more correct verb that I haven't thought of. Let's see if you can get a different suggestion from the others.

"The meeting took place/was held between A and B on 6/22"
