The objective of the article is analysis of the degree of influence of financial literacy on the degree of interaction of the population with financial institutions and on the level of economic security of the country.

Conclusions and Relevance. The low level of financial literacy of the population leads to increased levels of distrust of financial institutions, especially in the crisis period. Russia's population is less begins to consume financial services, which negatively affects the banking sector, and reduces the level of economic security of the country.
