Help solving a few riddles!

Riddle 1:
Raise high those feathers
But do not gloat
I have eight letters
And act like float

I had the idea of Daedalus for this, but the rest of the riddles seem to be themed on Halloween so I thought that was probably wrong.

Riddle 2:
in celebrations, you must eat
but one simple dish will not meet
the standards of a time so major
so cook me lots, with love and labor
if my five letters still needs orientation
add the sixth letter to the right direction

I am SO confused on this one. I mean, you eat sweets as part of the celebrations, but that doesn't really seem to fit the rest of it. The orientation part may link to the fact that these riddles then have to be put into a crossword puzzle but really I have no idea .

Riddle 3:
a group, a circle, or a ring
I'm four letters one can swing
or enter when one wants to dance
or deal my card for a winning chance

I kinda vaguely thought luck on this because of winning chance but I don't know how it relates to dance.

Riddle 4:
I have roots you cannot see
I am taller than any trees
I grow up from the ground
but you cannot chop me down

I thought this could be a building or castle?

Riddle 5:
you drop and fall, no direction safe
approaching the ground so, so quickly
vision focused on just one lonely point
no glitter, no wings, just your heartbeat
and sleep

Could this be a nightmare or something?
