Question

Two characteristics of Orientalism are Spirituality. These things create stereotypes amongst different people. Hate crimes stem from ignorance about a different culture or race. Orientalism creates that stereotypical figure that someone may think is the norm for all people of that background. This is not the case. A great example of this will always be the 9/11 events. Because of those events, Arabs or anyone who looks like them may be targeted because of ignorance.

You start with two characteristics of Orientalism, but then you only name one...spirituality. So, that needs to be fixed.

The next sentence refers to "these things," but, again, you only have one characteristic.

Sentence 3 (hate crimes, etc.) is fine. Sentence 4 (Orientalism, etc., is fine, although you really have not defined Orientalism other than to name one characteristic of it and refer to 2. You probably need a good opening sentence that gives a broader outline of the major beliefs and views that Orientalism encapsulates.

Sentence 5, "This is not the case," refers, I presume, to the fact that it isn't a correct concusion that all persons of an eastern background fit the stereotype. But, that needs to be said more clearly, in some way such as, "Concluding that all persons of an easter origin or heritage fit the stereotype that many draw from limited knowledge of persons from eastern backgrounds is simplistic and erroneous.

The next sentence "a great example of this is will always be the 9-11 events." I believe you are looking for actions that demonstrate the narrow thinking of many westerners toward persons from the east, and, although 9-11 was a catalyst for actions that demonstrated this concept, it wasn't an example, in and of itself.

The last sentence is okay, but might be strengthened to say, "In the aftermath of these events, prejudices against those born in the east, and escalating tendencies among a wider population to hold the stereotypical views of them, resulted in Arabs or anyone who looked like them, etc.
