Hello, I need help with editing my motivational letter. I want to apply for an internship in an art-business related company. My background is not the perfect one for the job but I discovered just now that that is what I really want to do. I am very passionate about it and I want to give it a shot.
Please can you give some advices with my motivational letter?Thank you so much.
I am writing you to express my interest and motivation in applying for a three-to-six month internship atXX.
My name is XX , I am an XX citizen graduated holding a bachelor degree in “Language and Culture of East Asia Curriculum Japan” at XX University in XX and currently second year student of the master programme in Japanese Studies at XX University. I am due to finish my studies in few weeks and I will graduate next September 2011. After completing my final thesis I would like to further challenge myself with an experience in a serious and well known organization such as XX.
I have always been fascinated by the world of Art and the more I grow up the more I realize that I strongly want to be part of it, learning more about it and understanding its dynamics. I am very interested in seeing how an establishe auction house such as XX works and the processes that are behind of it. In particular, I am interested in seeing how it combines business and art Thus, I believe that an experience at XX would allow me to gain the necessary knowledge and skills to pursue a career into the Art World.
During my bachelor I took several classes on Japanese Art and I became deeply interested in it. This is why I would like to be taken in consideration for an internship at the Japanese Art department of Christie’s Amsterdam. I think in this way I would be able to link my two main passions: Art and Japan.
I know that my educational background is somehow different from the one of a possibly ideal candidate but I am very passionate, determined and I am strongly willing to learn as much as possible.
In terms of interpersonal communication, I am very responsive and punctual person. I am a fast learner and always
seeking ways to ameliorate myself, I am very positive and I do not get easily discouraged by difficulties. I believe I am very dynamic and active person, always seeking for challenge and I like to measure myself in different environment and different situations.
Thanks to the several group activities I took part in during my formation years I am a good team worker and I am able to consider and analyse different opinions and take the lead when necessary. I am good at creating relationships based on mutual trust and understanding.
During to my studies I gained the ability to have a good time management and I am capable to work on strict set
deadlines. Furthermore, with my experience gained during my formation in Italy, the Netherlands and Japan I would be able to adapt to a constantly changing work environment and I easily get along with individuals of different culture backgrounds. Also, the extensive experience abroad made me able to cope with many different kind of situations and be ready to act even in stressful and unexpected eventualities.
I am confident that I will be an active, diligent and useful inter to XX, willing to contribute and to learn as much as possible during my internship. I am therefore very excited in becoming an intern in XX and pursue my cherished wish of learning about Art from a closer stance .
My resume, enclosed herewith for your reference, contains additional information on my experience and skills. I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss my candidacy with you. I can be available for an interview any time at your convenience.
Thanking you for your attention,
Yours truly,
XX
