Help, please!

Hello! I am an Italian living in England. I need your help, please. I received a text message few months ago which read: "Looks like silvio berlusconi is on the way out. He is the only person to make mickey mouse look good". Could you tell me, please, if there is something wrong with this sentence? The person who sent it to me is English, but someone in italy, says that the use of "look good" is a mistake, that I made the sentence because no English-speaking person would write like that. Thank you very much!

Hello, Ennismore - and welcome to English Forums. The sentence does not make sense unless the writer despises Mickey Mouse, which is unlikely. I think it was a thoughtless choice for comparison.

  • A better one: Looks like Silvio Berlusconi is on the way out.
  • He is the only person to make Don Juan look good.
