Are the following ideas expressed correctly?

Let us bear in mind that when we are learning a foreign language, we are liable to make mistakes, serious mistakes, despite studying all the vocabulary and structures we have been taught. So, can we blame our students when they feel that participating in class implies a risk that looms menacingly in their minds and, therefore, they simply drop out of the course?
