Help on my definition essay

Question

Hi guys, I found this site after trying to work on my definition essay. I thought finding a topic would be alot easier ten i thought. But i finally start writing a definition essay on "What is a Hockey Player"

Since I play hockey I thought I could explain this topic well.

But heres my question. I am having a dificult time with my thesis statement in my first paragraph.

Basically, the thesis statment is an overview of what you will be saying in the essay. TOPIC + YOUR TAKE ON THE TOPIC = THESIS STATEMENT:

For example:

'A hockey player needs three basics: durability [the subject of paragraph 1], skating skill [the subject of paragraph 2], and a good chiropractor [the subject of paragraph 3].'

or

'Hockey players, like all athletes, must train hard, play hard, and never give up.'

Be sure the thesis statement clearly defines the content of the essay (not just the topic) and presents the reader with a brief outline of its structure.
