00Dear Sir/Madam,02br
02br

00 Knowledge is a key to many doors, all these doors lead to many paths. As a young British girl of ten years, travelling through Sweden, Germany and now Holland gave me that insight. When I first came to Holland I was twelve years of age. My father, sisters and I decided that we should stay here. Moving from country to country gave us no chance at building a solid foundation for our future. My first challenge was to learn Dutch, by doing this I would be able to follow the Dutch educational system. I worked hard and tried my best to succeed in every task I was given. My hard working paid off, I went from 2HAVO to 3VWO. At the age of sixteen, due to certain circumstances I left home to live alone. I felt that this was a excellent move seeing as (despite the financial difficulties) I was determined to finish my school here. 02br

00One thing I quite dislike about the Dutch educational system is the fact that by the age of fourteen or fifteen you have to choose your exam subjects. Certain subjects are divided into four packages, which one of them you must choose. I felt that this limited my general knowledge. Therefore I was not able to choose subjects like biology and chemistry as well as drawing and history. 02br
02br
00I enjoy doing things that are unusual and challenging. For a very important project I had to choose two subjects. My choice was Maths and Drawing, a combination that was rarely chosen but nevertheless difficult. 02br
02br
00General Science is my favourite subject. This is mainly because of its diversity. The lessons ranged from learning about the solar system to different evolution hypothesis. I thoroughly took great pleasure in all the lessons. 02br

00Among many fields of study I must say I love Philosophy the most. Where we come from, where are we going and why are we here, and some of the many philosophical questions that I am fascinated by. Many of my friends and I concern ourselves with daily issues like freedom, justice and God. But I do not only concern myself with philosophical questions. I also challenge myself with puzzles about the earth, time and space, political and economical problems and I even want to know how the human body and mind works. Science can answer some of the questions I have. Studies like History and Biology can answer others. 02br
02br
02br
02br
00As well as enjoying my many subjects, I take part in many extra curricula activities. I am writing editor of the school newspaper, head of the party committee and I take part in many school debates. Doing so I improved my organization skills as well as writing critical articles. I was chosen for a debate with Colin Powell as well as selected for Giving Back (GB). This was based on good grades, social achievability and good attitude. During my active year as a GB student I attended many workshops, including economics, politics and law and order. I also learned a lot about respecting different cultures, expanding my social network and presenting oneself in public. 02br

00One of the reasons why I feel that the University College appeals to me is its Liberal Arts and Science concept. I think that following different courses can widen your view of life and help make you a all round person. The fact that I can choose a variety of courses is excellent seeing as I am interested in many things. Another reason is that the University College is very international. I like being around people of different cultures. That way I can learn a lot about their way of life and philosophy. The University College gives me an opportunity to study and live with people from around the world with different backgrounds and cultures. University College Utrecht also gives me an opportunity for an international future and work environment. Since a little girl I have been fond of travelling and seeing many parts of the world. Due to the nature of students that attend University College I feel that studying there would be a great social and intellectual challenge. 02br
02br
02br
02br
00Because of my broad spectrum of interests, my plans for the future have not specifically been made. I hope that by following many courses I can specify and plan my future. I do know that I would like to work in many different places in the world and come in contact with many different cultures. Writing has always been a great ambition and I want to continue doing so. My written words may be able to change peoples way of thinking and maybe even change the world a little. I want to be able to write things that open peoples eyes. 02br

00Knowledge is a key to many doors, all these doors lead to many paths. I want to obtain many keys, which will open many doors to my future. I feel that the University College can help me in this because of the grand choice of courses, the social and intellectual challenges and the internationality. I also feel that I am a good candidate for the University College seeing as I have great ambitions, determination and good social skills. I could contribute a great deal to the University. 02br
02br
02br
02br
00Many thanks for your time and energy spent reviewing my application. I look forward to hearing from you soon.02br
