Help on Motivation Letter

Dear all,

I would like to receive some help on my motivation letter as I need to send it on Friday, but I would like to have a final version on Thursday, if possible.

I have been working on this letter since Monday and I think it needs further adjustments, so I would like to kindly ask your help with it.

Here it goes!

Dear Sirs, Madams

I am interested to apply for a Masters Degree Programme in XYZ starting in 2014. I graduated in 2006, from the University of ABC in CDF and hold a Bachelors degree in Social Sciences. I have also received a Master’s Degree in Business Administration in 2012 from the same University. Through these studies I became fascinated with social interactions.

Social interactions are interesting to study because they allow us to have a deeper understanding of human behavior. With the globalization era, new forms of social interactions appeared, enhanced by the use of internet. In this context, social media plays a very important role in strengthen social interactions all around the globe, being regarded as a representative of the affective, social and professional interactions of people with similar interests, that collectively become sharers of values, ideas and common goals.

Throughout the uprising number of social media, people have discovered an open-space to express their ideas, demands, complain and exchange information regarding several topics, including politics. However, governments are not providing that to their fellow citizens, as there is no government social media. Thus, I am interested in using my market research experience to create an ABC in order to capture population demands, aiming to develop new politic policies.

This project idea appears in a moment of several riots against corruption, high public spending and lack of good public transportation in Brazil and may be used to further understand population needs. This learning can also be used to develop a more adequate politic policy in Brazil and also in other countries around the globe, such as Germany.

My MBA project was based on a research conducted using social media. The project focused on the influence of the social media in marketing campaigns of fast moving consumer goods companies.
With this research, was verified that social media is emerging as a new space of social interactions and people are becoming more aware of their needs. These people are becoming politically engaged and well-informed. This presents a challenge for governments who have to deal with a more critical population. As such, understanding the population needs through the study of social media constitutes a new analysis field.

The decision to pursue studies in Germany is underscored by my desire to assemble a deeper knowledge of German public transportation and education policies, aiming to introduce similar policies in Brazil. Additionally, the international and interdisciplinary nature of the Masters programme, it focus on Good Governance in the 21st century and it practice-oriented approach have convinced me that this is the best choice for my future. This way, I believe that a Master’s degree will provide a milestone in my career along with invaluable experiences that will allow me to become a successful, innovative professional.

With a solid foundation in academic theory on sociology, top grades at the Business Administration Master`s course and with my background on market research gained through 6 years of experience in working at International and National companies, I am confident that I will have the skills, knowledge and contacts that will enable me, as sociologist and market researcher, to deal with the complex issues of the social and political conditions in my country. Ten years from now, I envisage myself taking up a career either in international institutions or in federal and local government.

Thank you very much for considering my request. I look forward to your positive response.

Sincerely yours,
Phoster
