English verbs have 4 parts: base (infinitive), past, present participle and past participle.
The past participle is used in many different situations, in particular:
1. Part of the formation of the perfect tenses. (have + past participle)
2. Part of the formation of passive voice verb forms (be + past participle)
3. The verb in certain non-finite (relative) clauses.
