Help needed in review

Many people want their country to host an international sporting event. Others believe that international sporting events bring more problems than benefits.

Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

The popularity of different types of sports has been increasing day-by-day. A few people are of the view that hosting an international sporting event brings numerous benefits while others are opposed to this view. In my opinion, merits of arranging mega sports event outweigh their drawbacks.

Not only publicity but also the economy of the country increases instantly if any international sports activity is hosted. This is because countless tourists from participating countries come to see their favorite players and supporting them. As a result, these visitors spend a large quantity of money which increases the economic activities of the country. England, for example, has hosted Cricket World Cup recently in which people from all over the world came to see the games. They generated 200 million pounds from this event; whereas, they just spent 20 million pounds in providing facilities.

On the contrary, many people believe that hosting any international game has more drawbacks because of influx of too many tourists. That is to say that a government has limited resources for its citizens and if too many people come to see this event, it can cause myriad difficulties for its own people. In other words, infrastructure will be devastated though economic activities will be generated. For instance, Kuwait arranged football champions trophy in 2010 and around 9 million people came to see this mega event. Their rapid transit system was collapsed as they incurred a huge amount to renovate the system.

In conclusion, hosting an international event of sports has more benefits than drawbacks. Although it impacts the infrastructure of hosting country, its economy and publicity also rise instantly.
