Grammar

Help needed

Hi, I'm trying to translate some things from English and wanted to check the grammar. In the phrase 'Long live the king' is the verb 'live long' or is 'long' an adverb or adjective? I know it is subjunctive mood. Also would 'the king' take the nominative or accusative?

Thanks,
Matt.

When you call that subjunctive, you summon the grammar demons from their slumber. I myself think it is a survival of something older. Some call it a third-person imperative.
