Help need regarding usage of "s"

Friends, bit unsure about the usage of "s" with the word "deserve" in this sentence. Can you help me figure out I'm using it rightly or not. Here is the sentence.

Sentence: "He has got the credit more than he deserves"

Somehow I get the filling it should be "deserve" not "deserves". Not sure why!Emotion: wink Need your helpEmotion: smile

Thanks

Greetings, Razer, the sentence you give reads utterly strange. 'More than he deserve s ' is all right, but the clause overall should be rectified, as in He has got greater credit than he deserves . The question concerns the so-called comp-element .

Greetings, Razer,

He has got greater credit than he deserves.

The question concerns the so-called comp-element. In your original sentence, it is hard to determine one.

"He has got greater credit than he deserves"

Sorry my bad for not giving the complete context I thought sentence would suffice. The whole case is this: My friend says "our PM has not got the credit for the reforms he did in back 90s". So I was responsing him by saying "he has got more credit than he deserve" Thanks anyway for your answer. Now I'm not in double mind

RazerBut how about this sentence: "Do you know women need to shop" ? No "s" with either of the words "women" and "need"! And that sentence has been said by a person who is an author in English. That creates doubt and confusion.
It shouldn't. "women" is plural and takes a plural verb.
Women shop.
A woman shops.
