The diagram indicates the percentage of income of three film types from a Hollywood film studio over thirty-year period between 1970 and 2000. In general, the romance genre generated the highest income in the beginning but declined substantially during the period. Meanwhile, the amount of revenue from comedies fell slightly, and the action/horror genre rose dramatically to account for a high figure.
It is clear from the graph that the romance genre stood at the topmost figure with more than 50% in 1970 before falling gradually to a low of around 40% in 1980. Subsequently, the rate plunged to approximately 10% after twenty years. Regarding action/horror genre, it began the period with almost 10% and increased slightly to roughly 20% in 1990. Afterward, the number of people chose this type of film rocketed by round 20% at the end of the period, becoming the most popular one in 2000.
In contrast, the comedies’ figure started at well over 30%, then there was a moderately growth from 1970 to 1980. Eventually, it fell marginally to 30% in 2000.
