Dear Mr. Collins,
I am writing to give my opinion about clothing at school.
Today people at Lincoln High School wear uniforms to school. I think that is a bad idea.
The first reason is that uniforms might make some students feel uncomfortable. If their uniforms do not suit them, they might feel embarrassed about it during their school days. This is not good for teenagers' mental health and could cause depression. Further, uniforms may not always be appropriate to a change in the weather, which could very easily affect students' health. Students also cannot focus on studying if they don't like to wear.
Secondly, school uniforms deny students the opportunity to express themselves. According to the studies of non-verbal communication, choosing what we wear is one of the most important aspects of non-verbal communication.
Thirdly, uniforms could become one of the causes of juvenile delinquency. Some students feel frustrated because they cannot pick out what they wear to school. This frustration might make them feel violent, which could lead to juvenile crimes.
Finally, uniforms are more expensive than casual clothes. Some students don’t have money to buy clothes, they will buy casual clothes with lower prices instead of buying uniforms to go to school. This will help their parents save a lot of money to improve their life.
I hope my opinion will be considered. I am looking forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Lloyd H. Melancon
