Help me with my work

I appreciate it if anyone would help me with this. "How much did you know about it?" and "To what extent did you know about it?" mean the same? I am always wondering if I can correctly use " to extent". How about the next one? Does "To what extent is it that you knew about it?" work right? Any advice would be appreciated. Ken

They are all OK, but the last one is a bit awkward. I don't recommend that one.
