Help me with my Motivation letter for a master program, Please

I am applying for a master program and I need to write a motivation letter. This is not common practice where I am from, and english is not my native laguage. But, I have done some research on how it should be, and I would appreciate all comments and suggestions about it.

This is my letter:

"Dear Mr. ,

“The world as we have created it is a process of our thinking. It cannot be changed without changing our thinking”, perfectly concise and accurate words to describe my desire to engage in an international master program at XXX University of Technology in XXX. I believe that our surroundings can change the way we, as individuals and society, act and it can mean the difference between our attitudes towards a more balanced coexistence with each other and our environment.

I am particularly interested on how we are affected by technology, how we disturb nature and how this sooner than later will impact us back again. I am a Civil Engineer, graduated from the University of XXX (XXX) in XXX on 2011. Through my studies I became fascinated with issues that affect urban development and the future of urbanity. In particular, on how little thought is given to environment hazards, how poor are the rules governing the fast growing population settlement, and the lack of standards to control and ensure the building of housing with proper basic and modern services. Current and future urban metropolis are in need of new strategies to deal with the problems of housing diversity, urban intensity, and sustainability, as much as re-thinking existing buildings to fit them to future lifestyles and needs.

As an engineering student, I have had the opportunity to directly deal with similar matters, working along with a very humble community where the main high school was built in an area threatened by geography, climate, and local social hazards; the main infrastructure was extremely old, with no signs of maintenance, and similar structures had a precedent of failing under seismic events. I was part of a team dedicated to analyze and evaluate the vulnerability of the school and its impact (direct and indirectly) on the community in the case of some event happening. Also, we assess all members of the community on the importance of knowing their environment, all possible scenarios, and how to react to each one of them. During this task, I became aware of what is an everyday reality of my homeland and the rest of the world, through this experience I fortified my desire to enroll into an academic international program which will have me with theoretical tools to find sustainable suitable solutions for this too common problems throughout the world.

Through my experience in the professional world in both office and work field, I re-enhance the confidence in my personals skills to succeed. While working as Planning Coordinator of a Building Company, I had to do a lot of research since it was a newly opened position and the standards for responsibilities, duties and authority had to be set by me, this showed me a great deal about my self-taught and independent character. Recently, I was hired for a project that required mainly team work, organization, and commitment, it demanded many hours of work and it had to be delivered in a very short period of time, as a new formed team we had to quickly integrate and start functioning as one, I took charge of ordering and assigning responsibilities to each member of the team with everyone’s opinion on the matter, finally the project was delivered on time to the client. These are all assets that will help me through my way on an international career.

Studying at your multicultural university enables me to improve my interpersonal talents. I would be learning in one of the best universities in XXX with partners’ universities in many countries. Besides, I will have the opportunity to develop myself in an international environment giving me the privilege to meet new people with different points of view of similar issues. That would be a very enriching experience for me. I think I will be able to acquire the XXX language, which will help me to form higher qualifications for my future. I am convinced that this master program would provide me with the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills I will need for a successful engineering career in the future.

I realize the highly competitive demands of the program, but I have the ability, ambition and motivation to exceed the requirements and to excel at the university. I am eager to gain new experiences, and, in my opinion, this program is the best way to achieve that. I am positive that the XXX University of Technology and especially the Civil Engineering Department would be an excellent start for a future ambitious career. Therefore, I would be very proud and happy if I received the admission for this program.
