There are many ways to reward children for their efforts in getting high grades. People usually give money to children because it is a fast way to reward them. Adults do not need to think about what they like by letting them buy anything themselves. However, giving money to a child has both advantages and disadvantages.

Let’s look at some upsides of giving money to children as a reward for high grades. First, giving money to children as a reward encourages efforts in their studies. Indeed, children will feel happy when they can receive money after an amount of studying. They think that is the result of studying hard and from that, they will have the effort to study to get high grades. Second, receiving money as a reward makes the kids feel respected. Children have the right to decide what they want to do with the money that they received which means they are old enough to make a decision. They can buy books, learning tools, or even save money. Giving money as a reward helps children study harder and feel respected.

On the other hand, giving money to children as a reward is harmful if they do not know how to use money carefully. If adults give money to children without control, they will have a tendency to use the money for improper purposes. For example, my friend has a son in 10 grade. Whenever he got a good mark, he would receive money as a reward and no one cares how he used that money. One day, his teacher called up his mom to tell her that he was absent for a week. It turned out that he used the money for buying cigarettes and playing games at a computer gaming. Finally, the problem was sold and my friend never give money to her son without purpose.

To sum up, giving money to children as a reward has both upsides and downsides. It helps children study harder and feel respected. Besides, it is harmful if they use money do not under adults’ control. From that, people need to consider carefully before giving money to children as a gift in high grades.
