Help me understand

Hello Everyone,

I recently announced in my office that i would like to leave the job. So my boss said, we will consider at as two weeks notice from now. Otherwise it will set a precedence and set a bad track record. i understand the bad track record part, that i should develop that professionalism. But 'it will set the precedence part' i am confused. Will it set a precedence for others to follow or will it set a precedence for me in my career?

Thank you.
