Help me to understand the difference between "of" and "for"

Which one is correct; "I would like to know my grade of the assignment that due last night."

Or,

"I would like to know my grade for the assignment that due last night."

Top answer

I would like to know my grade for the assignment that was due last night. Also, and perhaps more idiomatically: I'd like to know what grade I got on the assignment that was due last night. 'my grade of the assignment' is an impossible combination.
